“Any adventure, any time.”

I didn’t really have an ah-ha moment. It started when Rosie, my wife, invited me to go work out at bring a friend night with Reformed Fitness.  I did not expect to have a blast even though it kicked my butt. After talking with Rosie, we decided, why not keep going? And the ‘keep going’ would make me feel better and allow me to do more, which I wouldn’t do normally.

Let’s just say I did a whole lot of not normal, as my life has changed significantly.

Physically –

Asthma has been my biggest challenge.  I could barely run around the block without stopping. Then during workouts, I worked to increase endurance and develop proper breathing techniques.  Now, not only can I now run around the block, I can consistently run a mile without stopping. The mindset and abilities are insane as to what I can now accomplish.  I have completed a local Mud Run and look forward to the Tough Mudder in the next few days.  My proudest accomplishment, so far, was our marathon Hike26.  Yep, the Any Adventure Any Time team hiked 26.2 miles in one day.  Any Adventure Any Time activities are fun, exciting, and challenging.

My next big goal is a one day 50 Mile Mountain bike race in fall of 2018 on the Ozark Trail.  I estimate this taking 10 hrs, the same amount of time to hike a marathon.  You have to have a big or next goal.

Mentally –

I have made significant changes with the Reformed Living habits aspect of their training.  This reinforces my workouts – all parts are now working together.

My feelings towards activity, exercise, and eating have changed.

Now, I look forward to my workouts as they are a way to release stress.  I am more aware of what I am eating and how I eat.  Having a work/life balance historically takes a toll, and I have been adding new habits to better separate the two.

The encouragement we all give each other and the friendships that have come from it are amazing. It’s like an additional family (in a good way).

I’m motivated to keep going as I continually change, for the better.

All of this is possible because of the support I get from Rosie.  It starts in the home.  As a couple, Rosie and I work to help each other grow.  And it is reinforced with our workout family, there every week, encouraging us to keep going, pushing each other to betterment.

Reformed Living is really there for you.  They want you to “Do. Life. Better.” and they show it daily.  They help hold you accountable and are available any time to help. Not only that, unlike other gyms they have the personal touch which makes you feel comfortable. They understand your limits and work to help push you past them and help grow you in life.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME…

What do you do for fun and relaxation?

I really enjoy craft beer and exploring local festivals and breweries. I also make time to ride my motorcycle, something about the feel of the open road, vroom.  Then like many guys, gotta get in that ‘occasional’ video game. And looking to add a new hobbie as I am starting a podcast in January to talk about our adventures, health, relationships, work, & life.

If you could spend time with a famous person, past or present, whom would it be and why?

Being a race car guy I would love to meet Ayrton Senna. He was an amazing driver who somehow always keeps an edge while being smooth.

What do you think is your most interesting characteristic?

I am drawn to the analysis of analytical anomalies.

What are your words to live by?

A challenging question, as I really don’t have any words to live by. Our motto this year has been Any Adventure Any Time and I have accomplished a lot.  I’d like to continue next year as well with that motto.   I am passionate in what I pour myself into, I guess you can say, it would be “do your best.”

What habit are you most proud of?

I am proud of our Session 5 (Sep & Oct 2017) habits. For example; getting rid of sugars, restricted eating, etc. And of couse, just the habit of working out.

What is your favorite healthy meal?

Definitely a nice salmon with steamed broccoli and brown rice.

How much sleep do you get per night?

Oh boy… wow, now that is a problem area for me. I average about 6.5 hrs due to my work schedule, and my neato watch tells me I have trouble getting deep sleep.  I am working on the deep sleep thing with Rosie, other friends, and Reformed Living team.  It seems new habits are really helping me to get there.

What do you like best about Reformed Living?

Doreen and Dave are amazing. There is just that personal touch. They are welcoming, aware, and always want you to do your best. Yet, somehow through all the struggles you go through to change, they make everything fun and enjoyable. I look forward to every workout, every habit, and every adventure, every time.
