They sound so promising, an instant change, and BAM, you get HUGE results.

Emotionally we want to approve.   

It’s just the loopholes that get us, the quid pro quos.

You know the work & pain of change is why 99% of us never follow through.  And it goes deeper than that.

Why? (Spoiler, these 3 letters become very important in follow-on articles)

Keeping the change is very tough to do.  I mean changing anything, especially as adults.

We hold on to beliefs, habits, and for lack of a better word, processes, so tightly.

And what they are asking us to do is to change/adjust and somehow fit into our already busy and packed lives a new way of doing something.

The way to get a temporary change is to offer a challenge.  And for a while, we will put our lives on hold and make the challenge a priority.  And during the challenge, we see change. Though often, the change is temporary, and we revert back.

We just successfully lead a “gain no weight over the holidays” challenge.  It was successful as 90% of participants lost weight over the holidays.  This got us to thinking will these habits stick?

The general problem with challenges is not the challenge itself.  It was instead, it is viewed as a temporary shift.  

Then the question becomes, how do you make the changes stick?
