Previously, we focused on your fitness and the importance of gathering friends around you who have the same purpose, becoming healthier.
Now, we are bringing health back home, literally.
In the next few weeks, we will focus on getting your #1 health & fitness support team on board.
Have you considered asking your partner to support &/or join you in healthier habits and activities?
Let’s address your initial hesitation to this –
White Elephant in the Room
There are tipping points in a relationship – money, spending, and chores. With your hesitation, you can lump fitness in there as well. You may have subtly noticed when you began to exercise (& your partner isn’t), they might feel ashamed, threatened, insecure, or jealous.
Breaking the ice to get started – Just talk
- Explain to them why you want to get healthier
- Share your goals, then ask them for help.
- Then ask them to consider joining, do fitness goal they’d like to start
- Make training “together time”, even if you exercise separately
- Have fun with it
- Celebrate milestones in your journey
Success Points – Day to Day
- Discuss goals and outcomes you each want
- Make a plan for if one partner bails or another pushes too hard
- Make a “no nagging or criticism” rule – keep to positive encouragement
- Understand though you go to the gym together, doesn’t mean you have to do the same workout
- Don’t analyze their workout. Keep big picture and be thankful you are both working on becoming better.
Couple Benefits
- Success is more natural when both of you are working on it together
- Together you make a stronger couple physically & emotionally
- Healthy competition keeps you both moving forward
