Kim 2.0
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!
Reformed Living previously featured Kim on the Success Wall. At that time she was edging closer to her goal weight. Since then, she has made great strides, thanks in part to her Daily WINs and being on POINT with Body Fit which launched in April. 8 weeks later she smashed her goal!
We caught up with Kim in June.
“The first time I saw Doreen, she was doing a Zumba warm-up for the Mascoutah Meltdown 5k race participants. I knew she taught Zumba classes and then found out that she was a personal trainer. One-on-one training is okay, but I really prefer group training. I signed up and found I loved the camaraderie and support of our group.”
Even more changes: “I initially started because I wasn’t happy with the way I looked or felt. I began at 257 and now I weigh 175. It’s been a two-year process, and tracking my food has been vital in reaching my goal. I love being active now, where I didn’t before. Now I really enjoy spending time outside. I’m always learning in regards to eating. Reformed Living’s Body Fit was a huge boost that I needed and I was able to lose 16 pounds in eight weeks, and I finally reached my goal.
Body Fit helped me to really understand and help me to have a healthier relationship with food. And the daily accountability helped me to get past the cravings struggles.
Eating the right foods and not giving in to cravings can be a struggle, yet, I love eating the right foods and how it makes me feel, healthy and energized. By far I love starting out my day with a healthy breakfast. I have two eggs, spinach, cherry tomatoes, onion, green pepper, and mushrooms with whole wheat toast. I never get tired of it!
It has been amazing the way I changed these past two years. Now I can’t wait to go to Florida. Understand this is the first time my kids have been to the beach. And later this year, I have my 25th reunion. I simply can’t wait!
Now that I reached my goal, it is time to reassess. I am very happy where I am. One of my favorite things is being able to shop in the juniors’ department. I went from a size 20 to a size 10. I want to set a new goal, though now it won’t be related to what the scale says.
I have always had a goal of completing the Mascoutah Meltdown in under 30 minutes. While I’m still working on beating that time, I did the Top ‘o the Morning 5K in March and actually beat my daughter’s time. Though I am still off my goal time by a few minutes. As crazy as this may sound, every morning I jog around the pool table for about 20 minutes, then reverse direction for another 20 minutes. My cat and I chase each other. That’s a great way to start my day and to make sure I hit my step goal.
Reformed Fitness with Doreen and Dave have kept me on track through my journey to being healthier. My daily motivation comes from the support and encouragement I get from both my boyfriend Dan and my daughter. I couldn’t do any of this without all the support. If I had to offer advice to anyone else, get a support team and then get determined. Move your body, daily. Big changes come in small changes over time. Make small changes and change your life for the better a little at a time.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME…
What do you do for fun and relaxation?
I love to play games, especially with my family. I also enjoy movies. Comedies are my favorite because I love to laugh.
Do you collect anything?
Funny, yes, I do. I collect flamingos. What started out as one magnet from the Denver Zoo, has become an entire collection.
What type of music do you listen to?
Country music is my favorite. Florida Georgia Line is my favorite band. I’ve actually seen them in concert every time they were in St. Louis, excluding their very first time.
What one habit are you most proud of?
Definitely tracking my food. I’ve logged in over 500 days in a row! Tracking my food ensures that I think before I eat. It is the daily, consistent habits that transformed my life.
What are your words to live by?
My favorite quote is by Lou Holtz and it’s this:
“Ability is what you’re capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.”
How much sleep do you get per night?
With two jobs, usually I get between four and five, though I’d love to get six or more.
What do you think are your most outstanding characteristics?
My daughter says my laugh is my most outstanding characteristic. I agree, now I am more bubbly, upbeat, confident, and outgoing.
