Forget New Years Resolutions – Do This One Thing Instead to Succeed

Last time we chatted https://reformed-living.com/forget-motivation/ 🙂, we primed the pump of real lasting change in your life.

Join us as we show you a way that works, long-term.

  • Everyone and their brother will be throwing down a new New Years Resolutions.
  • Most people resolve to change this great big huge thing and it WILL make me feel stronger, sexier, happier, etc.
  • Fast forward…2 weeks later…ask most people about their Resolution and they say it was oh so, two weeks ago.

Poof, gone.

Motivation is emotion driven.

“Forget motivation. It is fickle, unreliable, & not worth your time.”

When was the last time your emotions drove you to do something unpleasant, yet beneficial?

I gander a guess the answer is near zero.

For example, recall the multiple times you told yourself at night that you were going to get up the next morning, bright and early to get something important done?  Yet, when morning arrived, you were like, ohhhh, I so need sleep more right now.

“Just Do It”…ummm, later.

And….most likely, later never arrived.  Like ever.

MORE Cards Stacked Against You —

Wanna know the other reason Resolutions typically DON’T WORK?

Most make resolutions for BIG change.

Step back a moment and realize,

  • Most of your day is already preprogrammed with existing habits.

And those habits all have reasons for existing.

Adding this BIG resolution is like adding more coffee to an already filled coffee cup…the additional coffee just overflows.

You have two options –

1) Take something away (i.e. pour some coffee out of the cup)

2) Make a small change (i.e. just add a small amount of coffee to cup)

Problems

Option 1) is existing habits are very territorial and really don’t like the new guy, nothing personal. (In fact, your existing habits are doing all they can to make the New Resolution feel unwelcomed. (such habit snobs))

Then there is

Option 2)…the tactical proven way is to “sneak it in.”

So, this year instead of creating a grand ole Resolution, pledge instead to implement a SINGLE habit, a discipline.

“Forget motivation. It is fickle, unreliable, & not worth your time.

Instead, cultivate discipline. Force yourself to do. Discipline = Results.

Just start.”

Brew on this.  Make a list of a few habits/disciplines you would like to sneak in and we will help you build out your success path in the next email.
