“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”
As Interviewed by: Monica Mueller
I had let myself get comfortable with where I was physically and with poor habits. I was ready to start being more active. At the time I was going through a rough time in my personal life the gym became my outlet for stress relief and a chance to focus on me. Since becoming a better version of me, I’m much more active. I enjoy trying new things and am much more focused on setting goals (then crushing them) while crossing things off my bucket list.
One of my main priorities now is to make time for myself at the gym and to focus on nutrition. I know now that I am eating to fuel my body which aid my workouts. There were times along the journey that it was easy to skip the gym or make the unhealthy food choice. I realized the feeling you have after you skip a workout or eat unhealthy food that it just isn’t worth it.
One of my biggest accomplishments since starting this journey is when I went rock climbing for the first time. It was something that I have always wanted to try but never felt strong enough to attempt.
My main motivation to keep pressing forward with my health and fitness goals comes from
looking back at old photos of myself and seeing how far I’ve come. When other people around me ask for advice, I am able to help guide them to the path of creating their goals and a healthier lifestyle. It makes me truly happy.
Becoming a part of the Reformed Living family has given my fitness journey a home. I love this team, the passion of the leaders, and knowing how many lives have been changed.
If I could offer anyone advice on taking the first step it would be take the leap. Set some attainable goals and then slowly start pushing yourself. Also, find a group of people who share some of the same goals. This makes it easier to reach them and stay motivated.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME…
What do you do for fun and relaxation?
Read and watch horrible reality TV shows.
What type of music do you listen to?
A little bit of everything…depending on my mood
If you could spend time with a famous person, past or present, whom would it be? And why?
Michelle Obama. She started an initiative called “Let’s Move!” to encourage young people to be more active. She also focused on revamping the school lunch programs to make them healthier. I think she is such a positive person and is really focused on starting smart habits with young children so that they become healthier adults.
What do you think is your most outstanding characteristic?
Having a positive attitude.
There are so many things in life that we can’t control, but how you respond to them is what makes the difference.
What habit are you most proud of?
Staying consistent with my nutrition. It’s easy to slip from time to time. I prep ahead of time so that I don’t fall back into previous habits.
What is your favorite healthy meal?
Cilantro Lime Chicken made in the crock pot with brown rice.
How much sleep do you get per day?
8-9 hours on a good night
What do you like best about Reformed Living?
The energy level of the staff and how invested everyone is in the success of our fitness family.
